Successful launch for the new Lintrac 160 LDrive
In front of more than 400 dealers and partners from across Europe and Canada, the Tyrolean family-owned company presented its new top model in Kundl. The Lintrac 160 LDrive is a completely new development, from the transmission and engine to the driver's cab. “In recent years, we have very often heard requests for a tractor that is powerful while remaining highly manoeuvrable and offering maximum comfort for long working days. The answer is the new Lintrac 160 LDrive,” emphasises Managing Director David Lindner. The range of applications extends from working with combination balers to arable farming and specialised crop cultivation, contracting and maintenance work, as well as year-round municipal operations. The new tractor made its first public appearance at the factory exhibition in Kundl from 16 to 18 October 2025. Lindner's top model celebrated its official premiere at Agritechnica in Hanover.
More powerful and manoeuvrable than ever
At the heart of the tractor is the ZF TMT-14 continuously variable transmission, which Lindner developed together with ZF specifically for the new tractor. The power management system ensures optimum coordination between the transmission and engine. The Lintrac reaches 50 km/h at a reduced engine speed of 1,660 rpm. “A particularly innovative feature is the intelligent Smart Lift transmission control system. At the touch of a button, it automatically ensures the perfect transmission settings for front-loader work,” explains Managing Director of Technology Stefan Lindner. Professional users can choose from four PTO speeds: 540, 540E, 1000 and 1000E rpm. “We are also opening an entirely new chapter when it comes to the engine. For the first time, an FPT engine with a displacement of 4.5 litres and an exceptionally powerful torque of 700 Nm provides full power under the bonnet,” says Stefan Lindner. The engine delivers 129 kW (175 hp), making the Lintrac 160 LDrive the most powerful Lindner tractor of all time. The hydraulic system delivers 120 litres/min. Like all Lindner vehicles, the Lintrac 160 LDrive features separate oil circuits for the working hydraulics and the transmission/steering system. The axial piston pump efficiently supplies the required amount of oil even at low engine speeds.
The four-wheel steering makes the Lintrac 160 LDrive the most manoeuvrable model in its horsepower class. As with the Lintrac 130, the steering linkage is routed beneath the cab and, like all Lintrac models with four-wheel steering already available on the market, achieves a steering angle of up to 20°. The steered rear axle offers advantages when working on grassland, arable land or narrow municipal roads. Fewer turning manoeuvres not only save a great deal of time, but also reduce fuel consumption. The rear hydraulics provide a lifting capacity of 7 tonnes, allowing heavier implements to be used. By comparison, the most powerful Geotrac 134ep, which was produced until 2018 and remains highly sought after on the used tractor market, had a lifting capacity of 6.6 tonnes.
Completely new operating concept, maximum comfort
“We want to help our customers achieve the best possible results in their work. The completely new operating concept also plays an important role in this,” says Manuel Lindner, Head of Innovation, Quality and Apprentice Training. An additional touchscreen has been integrated into the new armrest, allowing all key tractor functions to be controlled. Another new feature is the LDrive stick, which complements the proven LDrive rotary controller. As before, the rotary controller enables highly precise and detailed fine adjustments. The LDrive stick allows drivers to accelerate and decelerate more directly, particularly during transport operations. The air-suspended cab is designed for long working days and, in combination with the suspended front axle and independent wheel suspension, provides maximum driving comfort. Cab volume has been increased by more than 30 percent, while the performance of the automatic climate control system has been significantly enhanced to provide a comfortable working environment even at very high temperatures. For the colder months, a winter package including seat heating, a heated windscreen and heated exterior mirrors comes as standard.
Production is ready
The assembly facilities at the Technology Centre in Kundl are also ready for the Lintrac 160 LDrive. “The new tractor is a real milestone for us. Among other things, we have reorganised the assembly lines, made workflows more efficient and improved material flow,” reports Managing Director Christoph Lindner, who is responsible for assembly, the paint shop and the repair workshop within the family-owned company. As a next step, Lindner will implement dedicated assembly stations for the Lintrac 160. “Precisely because the technology is becoming increasingly sophisticated, we are also working very intensively to ensure that quality consistently remains at the highest level.”
