For the first time GEOTRAC 124 was presented to an international audience at AGRITECHNICA in Hannover.
New Geotrac excels through futuristic design and operating friendliness
Kundl – With the Geotrac 24 the Tyrolean agricultural machinery specialist Lindner launches a new tractor generation on the market - responding in this way to the trends towards more powerful models. As a result, the division 101 to 125 HP increased in Austria in the previous year by almost 23 per cent while the division 60 to 100 HP was stagnant. In addition to this, the average area of Austrian agricultural operations increases year after year. "The new Geotrac 4-series is our answer to these developments. With this we enter a market that is totally new to us", said company head Hermann Lindner during the first presentation. The world premiere of the Geotrac 124 takes place from 11 to 17 November 2007 on the Agritechnica in Hannover, the Austria premiere from 5 to 9 December on the Austro Agrar in Tulln.
The Geotrac 124 was designed also designed for medium to large agricultural operations, farm estates and for use outside these operations. Hermann Lindner: " In the agricultural sector the 124 is the tractor for the professional grassland operation and in the community sector the ideal supplement to our Unitrac transporter." The forestry sector is increasingly gaining importance.
More power, less consumption
"The Geotrac 124 is equipped with a 4-cylinder Perkins engine of the latest generation, delivering 126 HP and 550 Nm of torque. A 50km/h version with sprung front axle will be available on request", according to managing director Stefan Lindner who is responsible for research and development.
From spring 2008 Series 4 will be completed with two additional engine versions. The Geotrac 104 has a 4-cylinder Perkins engine with 106 HP and 460 Nm of torque, the Geotrac 114 puts 116 HP with 510 Nm of torque on the ground. In the past, the Geotrac 103 with roughly 100 HP was the most powerful Lindner model.
The power shift transmission was developed by Lindner jointly with ZF Steyr. Stefan Lindner: "It has a multiple power shift with automation function and power shuttle. An ECO mode makes the vehicle particularly economical and environmentally friendly in operation". In ECO mode power is only added when it is really required. In addition, the optimum gear is automatically selected.
The IBC monitor installed in the Geotrac 124 as standard was jointly developed by Lindner with the German supplier Bosch. IBC stands for intelligent on-board computer and allows the control of the entire vehicle electronics via a monitor. "The operation of the tractor must be as simple as possible", is the guiding principle for the development of this world innovation according to Lindner. This makes the Geotrac 124 the first vehicle on which the electronics can also be monitored and set without service laptop.
Lindner also backs innovation with the lighting technology. "The LED technology is used on the 124 for the first time in tractor history. This means more safety and longer service life".
More travelling comfort and increased safety is made possible by the ergonomically designed Panorama comfort cab of the Geotrac 124. The front-end loader clear vision screen allows all round vision up to the maximum reach height. The cab design is reminiscent of a helicopter.
"We are the first tractor manufacturer to have used a special ROPS and FOPS test for the driver's cab." ROPS stands for roll over protective structures which ensures the protection of the driver during a possible roll-over of the vehicle. FOPS means falling object protective structure and provides optimum protection of the passenger cell from falling material.
The design for the new Geotrac 4-series originates from Achim Storz, who was already involved in the design of the Geotrac 3-series and with the new Unitrac.
Investment volume of three million Euro.
The Tyrolean family enterprise Lindner has invested approximately three million Euros in the development of the new Geotrac 124. "Series production will start in April 2008", announces Hermann Lindner. The production target of the 200-employee company for 2008 is 300 new Geotracs 124.
This year Lindner, the only purely Austrian tractor manufacturer, intends to produce 1,350 Geotracs and 180 transporters of the Unitrac make. In the financial year 2006/07 the company had a turnover of 58 million Euro, and the 60 million Euro turnover limit is to be broken this year.
The Geotrac is also intended to additionally score in export. In the first six months of 2007 the export quota was increased by two percent to 33 percent. Hermann Lindner: "The Geotrac 124 will further advance our foreign business. In addition to the established markets such as Germany, Switzerland or France, Scandinavia and south-east Europe are becoming increasingly more interesting".
